Inside Out Personal Therapy

Helping to get things from the inside, out...

About

Hello, my name is Alice Dobby and I am the Director of Inside Out Personal Therapy.

I am a PTUK Accredited Play Therapist, AST Sandplay Therapist and Creative Clinical Supervisor that works in and around the Suffolk area.

My mission is... "Through Play and Sandplay allow individuals the space, support and resources to recognise and resolve thoughts and feelings that are on the inside and need to come out"

Play Therapy

Play is the child's natural medium of self-expression - it’s essential for development. Play Therapy is a method of helping children with behavioural and emotional problems to help themselves.

It gives children an opportunity to play out their feelings and problems with a therapeutic objective. Play Therapy sessions are non-directive and are delivered to PTUK standards and abiding by their ethical framework.

Witnessed domestic violence, Come from divorced or separated home environments, Have been subjected to any kind of abuse, Suffered bereavement, Have been bullied or are bullies, Behavioural issues, Suffered any kind of trauma, Children with ASD and ADHD, Children with Attachment Disorder, Children with Eating issues, Children suffering with Anxiety & low self-esteem

Sandplay Therapy

Jungian Sandplay Therapy

Jungian Sandplay, is a creative technique that allows clients a safe, supported and gentle opportunity to create something symbolically, as opposed to talking
A Sandplay Client is invited to create a three-dimensional picture in a sand tray using miniature symbols
Miniature symbols and figures representing a variety of fantasy and real life are available for clients to use in the sand tray
Sandplay Therapy offers a non verbal, compassionate and supportive 'way in' to a natural way of communicating in the presence of the therapist
It can be described as a 'waking' dream, which can be talked through if and when needed
No analysis or interpretation is offered, the client is free to share as much or as little as they wish during and after the process

Supervision

I qualified as a Play and Creative Arts Supervisor with PTUK in November 2016. I offer regular one to one Supervision sessions, to trainee and qualified Therapeutic Play Practitioners and Play Therapists.

As a supervisor, I provide support, advice and guidance on a therapist’s clinical work. This could involve therapeutic relationships, ethical and safeguarding issues, as well as personal insight and safe care of the therapist. I follow PTUK guidelines and work within the Ethical Framework when it comes to supporting supervisees. During a session, a supervisee may choose to use my sand tray, miniatures and creative media as a way of gaining personal insight into not only themselves but also their client.

Please feel free to contact me using the form below to discuss your personal requirements.

My Therapy Journey

My Therapy journey began in 2011 when I came across a book called Dibs - In Search of Self
This book inspired me to begin studying and so I started my training with APAC/PTUK to become a Play Therapist
In 2013 I qualified as a Therapeutic Play Practitioner which then led me to gaining my Play Therapy Diploma in 2015
In 2014 I started my own business Inside Out Play Therapy, changing the name to Inside Out Personal Therapy a few years later
My Creative Supervision status followed in 2016 allowing me to support others on their therapy journeys
In 2019 I became a Sandplay Therapist which has opened the door to offering therapy sessions with adults as well as children
As a Therapist I am continually updating my knowledge base with CPD courses in areas such as Autism, Jungian Symbolism and Working with Couples
I feel privileged and honoured to have found a vocation that I love and see myself doing for as long as is possible

Testimonials

Alice has helped my family through a tough situation at home, she has been there as a much needed and wonderful emotional support and trusted person. The children feel they are able to be safe and secure with Alice and talk to her about anything. The process of play therapy, helps them to explore their emotions and thoughts and feelings in different ways and process them. Alice gives me feed back and keeps in touch with updates to the
school and myself on progress and if anything is needed to help the children. Alice is warm, calm and caring this always comes across to the children and when talking to myself. I don't know where we would be with out all her help and support.

Parent

Alice has created a unique and therapeutic space within the school that allows the children to express their emotions and feelings in a non-directive and safe environment. Through her holistic approach she has developed positive relationships, not only with the children she supports, but also with their families and the staff within the school community. She is dedicated and nurturing and maintains high standards of professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of her work. Alice has made a significantly positive impact on the children she has worked with and the school is very fortunate to have her as part of its team.

Pastrol Support Primary School

Having employed Alice as a Play Therapist at our school for a number of years we can honestly say we do not know how we managed without her. There has been a positive outcome for every child that she has worked with and the impact on these children lasts long after Alice's sessions have concluded. Pupils, parents and staff have all benefited from her expertise.

Deputy Head

I have been lucky enough to have Alice as my Supervisor for two years. Alice’s knowledge and experience has provided me with invaluable insight and perspective enabling me to grow as a practitioner and become more effective for my clients. Her integrity and values encapsulate the core of what play therapy and supervision should be. She has been a great support and I would not have had so many successes without her. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
